Hurricane Irma

Our evacuation

We began our road trip at five in the morning, all eight of us fit into an entourage of three cars and slowly joined the rest of Florida up north into Georgia. Along the way the struggle to get gas and water was starting to increase as traffic around those stations were building up. Eventually we made our way up north where we bunkered down at a hotel to rest for a few days. During our stay, we were watching the track of the hurricane closely on the television while having our laptops open, notifying everyone back home of our escape to safety. We managed to also get in some last minute homework before continuing on to Kentucky.

In the hurricane 

Making our way slowly towards the Caribbean and the US, I slowly hover above the ocean looking down at the impending doom for these residents. Feeling a sense of lifelessness and feeling out of control has steered my direction towards both the left and possibly the right. My final destination cannot be determined at this point and I am a slave to the rest of me. Upon landfall, destruction and pain is all I can see.

1817 hurricane

The sound of the blinds hitting each other outside has awoken me from my sleep. I can barely see in my room without the candle lit, except for the brief sudden flashes of lightning. A storm is brewing with the winds have picking up speed and force, slowly removing a piece of my house with every gust. 

2217 hurricane 

Getting off the phone with a friend, I can see a hurricane approaching my house in the distance. The imminent danger and worry has long gone, every since installing hurricane protection on this house. With the flick of a button all water and electricity will be running off the backups and foundations of the house are pushed deeper into the earth. Loose articles outside are a small worry as windows are triple layered and the fences have been tilted at an angle, diverting the winds up and over the house. 

Reversed hurricane

A hurricane eye is directly above our apartment, flashes of lightning create moments darkness as flashes of black fills the room. Meanwhile, outside the initial rain from the outer ring of the storm has started to reverse the gravity and go back up into the thundering sky. Winds take a similar pattern as it blows in the opposite direction away from us, pulling any loose debris in our yard into the horizon. 

Mixing up worlds

Caravanning up north with friends, the storm slowly looms behind us along the coast of Florida. The eye is engulfing the town behind us as we can see the rain start to reverse and the lighting inverse colors. The storm is gaining speed. Stuck in traffic, the panic sets in as we see the droplets around us slowly go up the hood of the car and peel off into the sky. The eye is directly above us
