Design Process for Final Amusement Park Project



Writing Assignment to complete before coming to Class: Following the design process we used last week you should write a paragraph that articulates the high concept of the theme park world that will become your final project for this class. Publish the high concept on your blog before you come to class this week. Make sure your concept is original to you or based on properties in public domain. Be prepared to read your concept aloud in class.


Fjord is the land of the vikings. Rich in history and with character, here you get to discover the man within you and fight like a warrior. Located on the island of Berg, a small outpost at the shore will be your guide through the rough terrain till reaching the village. Here you will get to experience what it takes to be part of the clan and try your luck at archery and sparing with the warriors. Quench thirst at the tavern where their famous turkey legs is a must try. End of your night with a demonstration of the mythical spirits that protect the village from the chief shaman.

Race and Ethnicity in the world of Fjord is balanced with people from all around the world finding where they belong on this island. A melting pot of cultures, each ethnic group has brought a little piece of their origin to Berg. Race is equal and with all the incoming and outgoing travelers, race is a plenty.

Social classes are divided up based on your purpose. Similar to the hunter-gatherer stratification. Each person has a part to play but their roles dictate their rights and what they are able to achieve. Sexuality is pretty open and same sex marriages are not out of the norm and are not frowned upon. Gender also does not limit people from achieving what they want to do such as women who want to be warriors.

Language is another beast on its own, having people speak many different languages with the base language being nordic. The inhabitants have started to mix and combine words from different cultures into their everyday vocabulary. Combining these words has create a new language of sorts.

Disabilities in this area is very much as sink or swim if you want to be a warrior but all other jobs still remain open to you. The viking warriors are know for their resilience and have been known to work through disabilities such as blindness or a hearing impairment but usually most of them have since retired to a more sedentary life

While on trail, be aware of the island’s creatures and greenery for they have a mind of their own. This will also be your first encounter with the vikings as several of them have set up shop along the trail to provide you with the tools and grub to last you over the hill to the village. Here you will get to experience what it takes to be part of the clan and try your luck at archery and sparing with the warriors. Your first stop when entering would be the inn where you can check in and get assigned your room and your viking name and custom clan emblem stitched on your garments.
